About this series:
“Stars & Bars” (mixed medium) is the way I see America’s effects on some of our youth. For some being in America is a powerful up-lifting thing that can take one from nothing to someone successful. For others the same America can be used to hold one back from all their full potential. The stars and bars of the flag symbolize the criminalization and restraint it has on some of today’s black youth. I hope one day those bars can be a gate that protects as well as opens up one to unlimited possibilities.
